Todd_Nichole.jpgA Message from the Principal

Welcome back to school for 2024! It is wonderful see so many happy and cheery faces!  As I tell the students, the first day of the school year is my favourite day of the whole year!  I know for some it is filled with mixed emotions, and leaving our loved ones can be hard, but for the most part the start to the year has been a joyous event.  Thank you parents and caregivers for making sure students all have their uniforms on, work books organised and have everything needed to start the year.

A reminder that sunsafe hats must be worn in term 1, and term 4 at our school.  I have given students 2 days to remember their hats.  From Monday if a student does not have a sunsafe hat they will need to play in a shaded area.  Hats are available to purchase from the school office for $17.  The hats are a new design this year and in a bucket style with an adjustable toggle.

We welcome Miss Ella Marshall and Mr Dave Metske to our teaching team, Mrs Anita Hillier to our office staff and Beau, Bianca and Holly to our TA staff.  I would like to advise that Miss Annie Williams was married of over the holidays and is now know as Mrs Annie Neubacher and Mrs Suzanne Williams will now be known as Ms Suzanne Paschke.  Mr Prebble will be on leave for this term, returning in term 2.

School doors open at 8:40am, which is when before school duty commences.  Before this time students are not supervised at all.  Please do not drop students off at school before this time.  I understand that some parents start work earlier than this, however it is not acceptable from a safety perspective to drop students at school at 7:30am and ask them to wait.  1912 operates before school care if this is helpful at all.  The safety of our students, your children is our priority.  The school day finishes at 2:50pm, with after school duty concluding with the departure of the last school bus, approximately 3:15pm.

At our End of Year Celebration assembly last year we announced to the school community our SRC for 2024.  Congratulations to: Leah W, Michelle T, Learley S, Emily E, April C and Willow W-B.  I am sure you will make a great contribution to our school community through your student leadership over the year.  Mrs Parker will again support the SRC to undertake this role.

All students will have an individual photo taken on Photo Day regardless if they are ordering or not. As Individual student ordering will stay open after Photo Day.

Family Photo orders must be done by 4:30pm the night before Photo Day so we can organise a list of Family Photos that need to be taken. Any Family Photos that have not been ordered before the cut-off will not be taken. Unfortunately, we cannot make any exceptions on the day.

Orders placed after photo day will be sent directly to parents and will incur a postage charge per order.

Which is why you should “Love 40” in School zones.
The 40km/h speed limit is for school zones including stationery school buses with their lights flashing.
“Love 40” means driving at or below the school zone limit to keep our children safe.

Starting a new school year is exciting. For many families we mark the occasion by sharing our kids' first day of school pics online. But there are some things to consider before hitting post, like who is this information being seen by?
If you’re sharing images of your kids online, consider these tips for keeping them safe while celebrating their milestones...
? Only share images of your child with people you know in-person and trust.
? Make sure you're using strong privacy settings.
? Avoid posting your location or ‘checking in’.
? Periodically review your ‘friends’ or ‘followers’ and remove anyone you don’t know.
? Be mindful of what your photo is telling others. Consider what's in background of photos or videos and avoid sharing images that give away your location or address. This also goes for identifying features, like images with school uniforms.
For more information and support with online safety, visit the eSafety Commissioner. They have a huge range of resources available for parents and carers, teachers and educators, as well as children and young people.

Tuesday was Safer Internet Day! A day to recognise and discuss online safety risks, how to be safe online, and where to go for help.

To support learners and their families, the eSafety Commissioner has put together three simple actions that we can all take when approaching online safety:

? Connect safely by keeping apps and devices secure and reviewing your privacy settings regularly.

? Reflect on how your actions online may affect others or your safety.

? Protect yourself and others by visiting eSafety.gov.au to find out how to stay safe online and report online abuse.

By doing these three things, we can work towards making every day a Safer Internet Day.

Parents and carers can view the full range of supports, including webinars, available here:

Young people seeking support are encouraged to visit:

We really need your assistance.

At the start of the year we ask if you could please name all your child/ren's belongings that are coming to school.
It is very easy for students to misplace their jackets, drink bottles etc in the playground, whilst moving to different classrooms for specialist lessons.
By placing your child/ren's name on their belongings we can return their items to them straight away.
