A Message from the Principal
NWPSSA
Our students from grades 3-6 have been getting ready for their upcoming inter-primary athletic carnival that will be held over two days early in March. This will be held in Penguin. The team to represent our school has been selected by Mr Forward, congratulations to you all, and best of luck on the day but most importantly, do your best and have fun!
SCHOOL SPORTING TEAMS
There are numerous sporting opportunities provided at our school for students to participate in. This week notices went home containing information about the commencement of several sporting rosters. As always, school teams cannot go ahead without support from our wider community in undertaking roles such as coaches, managers, umpires etc.
SCHOOL ASSOCIATION MEETING
The School Association will be having our AGM this term. The date will be published in the next school newsletter. We require parents to be part of our Association and would love some new members. Please speak to a member of staff if you would like to nominate to be a member of the SA. Further details will be in the next newsletter.
SCHOOL CARPARKS
Our school carpark will not be available for use on Monday as we are getting it sealed. It cannot be used until Tuesday. As you are all aware, car parking is very difficult at our school. Whilst I leave the car park open for all to use, we have a staff of 50, and at times we also have on site support staff and UTAS pre-service teachers needing to park, the whole carpark is needed by staff. If possible, please drop off students, consider bus travel, walking or perhaps park elsewhere. Thankyou for your understanding.

Family Photo orders must be done by 4:30pm the night before Photo Day so we can organise a list of Family Photos that need to be taken. Any Family Photos that have not been ordered before the cut-off will not be taken. Unfortunately, we cannot make any exceptions on the day.
Orders placed after photo day will be sent directly to parents and will incur a postage charge per order.
Introducing….me! Hi, my name is Grace, and I’m your School Health Nurse. I wanted to write a little intro to explain who I am, what I’m doing in the school and a little bit about me.
I’ll be around so everyone can put a face to the name. If you’re trying to find me, I have a bright green lanyard with sunflowers on it. Please feel free to come up, say hi, ask me questions!
Some fun facts:
-my favourite colours are yellow, pink and green
-my favourite foods are pizza and strawberries
-I like to do craft and paint
-my favourite animals are cats and pandas
I’ll be working with Kinder as part of the Kinder Health Checks, but I’m available for anyone who has concerns, worries or questions about health and wellbeing.

The wonderful team at the Meercroft Cafe have our lunch orders sorted with the Spriggy App again in Term 1.
Simply download the Spriggy app and add your chil/rens names and ensure you update their classes for 2024.
Lunch orders will be available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday during Term 1. Orders close at 8:30am each morning.

DEVONPORT GYMNASTICS
Devonport Gymnastics Classes have resumed for 2024, and have class availability for all ages and abilities. Have you been thinking of gymnastics as a sport for your child? Devonport gymnastics club caters for both recreational (non-competitive) and competitive gymnasts, through our fundamentals, club levels, and National levels programs. Devonport Gymnastics provides the opportunity for your child to learn and develop new skills through tailored programs, in a safe and fun environment. Suitable for ages from walking through to adult, utilising high quality gymnastics apparatus and equipment, in a custom built facility, we offer qualified coaches who are all accredited with Gymnastics Australia, and hold current working with vulnerable people checks. Devonport Gymnastics Club accepts Ticket to Play vouchers. The club has a long successful history in Tasmanian gymnastics, producing many State champions, and both Tasmanian and Australian team members.

DEVONPORT TENPIN BOWL
Tenpin Bowling is a sport for all abilities and is entirely inclusive of all, including people with disabilities. We recommend this program for ages 7yrs to 17yrs, however if a child is younger and has a passion for bowling, please direct them to the centre and we can accommodate most needs.
We also qualify to use Ticket to Play to cover registration fees, all equipment is provided, meaning parents only have a minimal weekly cost to cover.
Strike Squad - Tenpin Bowling Junior League
Tenpin Bowling is a sport for all no matter what your skill or experience! Tenpin Bowling Junior League will be starting in February for a 9-week roster. Recommended starting age for league is 7, but if you have a passion for bowling and are younger, come and see us in the center and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Junior League Devonport Tenpin Bowl Term 1 - 2024
Day – Tuesday from 5pm-6pm
Dates – Tuesday 13th February – Tuesday 9th April
Cost - $16 per week*
*This cost is made up of 2 x $6.50 games and a $3 prize fund amount. The prize fund amount is used to purchase trophies and awards at the end of the season.
