It was wonderful to return to school after my leave to so many beautiful smiles and cheery comments from the students welcoming me back to school – thank you!  I had a fabulous time exploring our wide brown country.  Going to Uluru was a highlight and seeing the underground houses in Coober Pedy was very interesting.  I must say though as much as I love to travel, it was great to get back home!

TASMANIA FOOTBALL CLUB

Today was a very exciting day as we had Rum’un the Tasmania Football Club mascot come to our school.  Rum’un was here to launch a competition for all schools to participate in run by the Devonport City Council to support the active lives of our community.  We were also joined by some students from Our Lady of Lourdes which was lovely to have them participate in the launch.  As there were many items brought by the Devils to hand out to students, a draw of endeavour cards took place with those students drawn out receiving a cap or beanie.  Thank you Devonport City Council and our Tasmania Devils.

LET'S GET TALKING

IMG_5247.jpg
Today was also the launch of ‘Let’s Get Talking’ an initiative that all the Devonport government schools are participating in.  Let’s Get Talking aims to promote the importance of oral language development, in particular in the birth – 4 area.  LiL staff from all schools and many families got together at the Playhouse on Forbes Street to chat, play and learn about ways more talking to our children can be incorporated into every day events such as bath time, meal times and times travelling in the car.  Please help your children develop their speaking skills by chatting to them whenever you can!!  Thank you to all those who helped organise this fabulous day for our families.

SCHOOL CARPARK

Once again, I remind parents that the school carpark is for staff parking, not parent parking.  It is also not a drop off spot for parents to use.  It is unsafe for parents to drive into the carpark and drop off students.  There is parking all around the perimeter of our school, and students can be supervised at the bus duty area if required.  Thank you for helping to keep our students safe.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Congratulations to all those students who represented out school in the inter-primary school cross-country in Ulverstone this week.  You all did an amazing job and gave your very best, thank you!
