Welcome Back
Welcome back to school for Term 3, I hope a good rest was had by all. The weather certainly has turned wintery of late, with lots of rain and some very frosty mornings! Winter coats are certainly needed to stay warm and dry, a reminder that school uniform items such as beanies, jackets and coats are available to buy from the school office.
Our school oval is quite muddy from all the rain. Playing on the oval at break times will be managed for the term to provide students with as much time on there as possible while ensuring the grass doesn’t get too chopped up and die as a result. We also need to consider our sporting teams training time after school as they also need time on the oval. Where possible, considering PE needs and staffing availability, the gym will be open to provide more space for students to play.
BREAKFAST CLUB VOLUNTEERS NEEDED PLEASE! Our breakfast club is a very important part of our school mornings each day. Breaky club provides food and drink to students to set them up for a successful day of learning. Due to some of our volunteers being away or unwell we require some more adult help in the mornings. Please note – all our volunteers must have a Working with Vulnerable People card. If you can help us at all, please contact the office.
School Driveway Entrance
You may have seen the changes at the driveway entrance to our school that took place over the holiday period as advised in the last newsletter in term 2. These changes will allow us to install a chain across the driveway that will be up during the morning and afternoon to reduce moving cars at peak student movement times (beginning and end of the school day). The chain can drop down when access is provided. This change is being undertaken as a safety measure for our students.
The NED Show
Yesterday the NED show visited our school to wow students with yo-yo tricks whilst sending a message to students that it is important to develop resilience skills. These skills can help us ‘bounce-back’ when we have difficulties in our lives. The yo-yos from the show are available to buy from the front office until the end of next week.

NAPLAN
Individual student NAPLAN results are being sent home to families. NAPLAN testing for grade 3 & 5 students was undertaken in March this year. I was very excited to see the great progress our students have made in literacy and numeracy. Our grade 5 students performed better than like schools in all testing areas and our grade 3 students performing better than like schools in all areas except one. Spelling was a real strength in both grades. Well done to all our students for working so hard and making such great progress we are all very proud of you!
