WATER SAFETY PROGRAM
In the last 2 weeks of Term 2 we had 2 teaching prac students join Mr Forward at our Water Safety Program in Ulverstone. Abby and Chelsea kindly wrote the following for our newsletter about their experience ...
Over the past two weeks, we (Abby and Chelsea) have had the pleasure of working alongside the swim teachers in the Swimming and Water Safety Program at Devonport Primary School. As teaching students at the University of Tasmania, we were fortunate to complete part of our placement with your school.
This experience gave us the opportunity to work closely with both students and staff, helping to develop essential swimming and water safety skills. Throughout the program, we collaborated with Mr. Forward and the swim teaching team, observing lessons and gradually taking on more responsibility. This included leading warm-ups, running small group sessions, and delivering water safety talks.
By the end of the two weeks, it was incredibly rewarding to see the progress and confidence the students had gained in the water. We, along with the swimming team, were truly impressed and proud of how far each student has come.
Thank you,
Abby and Chelsea.
