PRINCIPAL MESSAGE
Congratulations to our grade 2/3 students for being selected as a Runner Up winner in the Rum’un in Devonport Living Well Devonport Competition. Our 2/3 students thought Rum’un might like to spend some time visiting the Devonport Bluff and lighthouse as well as beaches around the local area. Artwork was created to represent Rum’un’s adventures. A big ‘WELL DONE!’ to our 2/3 artists!!
As you would be aware, Reading and Attendance are priority areas for our school this year. We are doing so well in both areas! A huge thank you to families for helping staff to progress learning in so many ways. As I shared in the last newsletter, our NAPLAN results were above like schools in all but 1 area (and we were really close!). Our grade 5 students did exceptionally well performing above the State average in a number of areas. Our attendance data is very strong also, with 90% attendance which is above other similar primary schools. There are about 60% of our students that have been at school 90% or more for the whole year. This percentage is also above the State primary school average – our school is doing very well and we couldn’t do it without the great support from home!
Our grade 5/6 students will be participating in the Grade 5/6 sports expo next week. This will be held on Wednesday, weather permitting. Students will have the opportunity to try two different sports and get to know other students from around our local area. Please check our school app if the weather is looking poorly as we will post any cancellations as early as we can.
A reminder that items of school uniform such as winter jackets and jumpers are available to purchase from the school office. Please ensure students are wearing school uniform each day. It is very important that all items at school, including items of clothing are labelled with student name so we can return them to the owner if found.
