PRINCIPAL MESSAGE
Terrapin Puppet Show
Our school was fortunate this week to host a performance of Goldfish presented by the Terrapin Puppet Theatre. The show was highly entertaining with a message of hope and resilience threaded through the funny yet serious story that unfolded. Some excellent questions were asked of the puppeteers from our students at the end of the show which were answered along with some explanations of how the puppets are created.
Car Park
As you may have seen, the chain on the school driveway entrance has arrived this week and has been used several times as a trial. The chain will be up during the busy parts of the day to reduce traffic entering the school grounds when students are moving to and from school. We are waiting for a camera to arrive and be installed which will detect staff car registration plates. Once installation has been completed the chain will be used each day.
Important parent/adult information
A reminder to parents and adults within our wider school community that only their own children are to be touched – eg holding hands, collected from school, given rides home from school or provided food at school. Please also do not address another child’s inappropriate behaviour with them at school. If assistance is required regarding inappropriate behaviour please speak to a member of staff. If there are to be arrangements made for after school play, please ensure that all parents are aware of the arrangements to prevent unnecessary worry.
School Oval
Thank you to our students, and the wider school community for your understanding of the reduced oval capacity whilst we have had it upgraded. Students have had a wonderful time playing on it this week, it is looking much healthier than it was with lots of new grass making it very soft! We look forward to using it for our school athletic carnival later in the term.
Devonport High School Transition
Our grade 6 students attending DHS will start the first of their 4 transition afternoons on Tuesday. These sessions are important steps in helping students to develop new connections with both staff and students as they prepare to change schools next year.
Kind regards
Ms Nichole Todd
