Principal's Message

A Message from the Principal

The 25th of May is nearly here!  We are all very excited about having our students back at school – we have missed you!  A big thank you to everyone in our school community for the amazing work that has been done over the last 2 months or so.  It has been truly wonderful to see the collective support, cohesion and willingness to put the safety and wellbeing of all our community members at the forefront of our actions.

The message from Public Health is clear – schools are safe places to be.  In saying this, there are a number of actions we can take together to keep each other safe.  I know that some of them might seem unfriendly, annoying or maybe frustrating, but I ask that we continue to work together in following the actions detailed below – for the safety of all.

  • Please do not send students to school when they are unwell
  • Parents/carers are asked to drop off students at the school gate or walk into the quadrangle if necessary. Please do not go into school buildings, unless assistance is needed at the office.  If there is a need to be on the school premise, please adhere to physical distancing - 1.5m away from another person.  Class teachers will alternate with their buddy class teacher to be out in the quadrangle in the morning to chat with parents as needed.  Of course staff are available to talk on the phone or be contacted via email with any queries or concerns.
  • Do not send toys from home to play with at school for example ‘Beyblades’. Students will not be permitted to take toys out of their bags.
  • To keep our children and community safe school cannot be a place where adults gather and catch up. I know this is hard to do because the start end of the school day is a great time to do this, but we just can’t, for a little while longer.  Thank you for your understanding and support.

The following are some of the actions already currently in place to assist with management of COVID19, and will continue to be for some time to come.

  • Increased hand washing throughout the school day
  • Reminders to use inside the of elbows to cover the nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing and to try and avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth
  • Increased cleaning of hard surfaces in classrooms, such as door handles, keyboards and desks, high touch point surfaces such as light switches, stairwell handrails etc
  • PE equipment disinfected after each use
  • Reminders to students that they are not to share food or drink, or classrooms items where possible.
  • Limited numbers of adults in the school eg. only essential contractors on site, limited non-DoE staff,
  • No large gatherings of adults in meetings etc, these are conducted through online processes
  • All rooms adhere to a maximum number of adults at any one time – eg office 5 adults
