Welcome to Devonport Primary School

Todd_Nichole.jpgDevonport Primary School is a vibrant and energetic centre of learning where students and families are the heartbeat of the school. Our school was the first primary school in Devonport opening in 1886. Today we are a school of approximately 300 students. In over 130 years of education the school has forged a strong tradition of high expectations for all, and has created and maintained a strong commitment to its motto 'Let those who work hard receive the reward.'

Devonport Primary is situated in the heart of the city enabling our students regular access to educational opportunities within the local area such as theatre and art gallery visits. We aim for all students to participate in and enjoy a broad curriculum and to achieve their personal best in a positive, supportive and inclusive learning environment. Staff at Devonport Primary participate in a wide variety of ongoing professional learning and recognise that to maintain high performance standards a commitment to continuous improvement is necessary.

The school values focus on respect, resilience, relationships and safety and our students are encouraged to be caring, inclusive and responsible citizens. Students are encouraged everyday to be thinkers, communicators, researchers, collaborators and problem solvers.

Our school understands the important role the broader community plays in the progress of our students. We seek to continually build positive partnerships with parents, carers, and the wider school community. Our school community is proud of the achievements of students and celebrates success at every opportunity both formally through whole school assemblies and informally through classroom recognition.
